My latest 74 rod sets include from 1/16 to 1/4, less 11/64 and 7/32, plus a few larger fractions, 17/64, 9/32, 19/64, 5/16, 21/64, 11/32 and 23/64. $15 an inch, free ship in the US. I'll pay half the actual shipping anywhere overseas or Ca.

And yes, these are a good grade W1 tool steel.

Kod, when you say $15/inch do you mean a 5" set is $75 and so on?

Also, do you custom sets? Personally, I wouldn't want anything less than 3/32", or anything any bigger than 5/16, and maybe not so many of those in between sizes either. Not saying your set doesn't totally rock, I just know me, I'll get hooked on a few favorite sizes and stick with those.

If you don't no biggie. Just thought I would ask.

Yep, 5 inch = $75, 6 inch = $90....any length, and would talk about discounts for 12+ inch....(fewer cuts, finishing and labeling for me).

I'm going to start to have available smaller sets, like 1/16 to 9/64, and 1/8 to 5/16 or, I don't know...doing sets, and pick and choose kind of orders, just presents such a logistical nightmare, here in my tiny shop....104 different sized rod...if I had the capitol to order the stock I'd need to make it pay, maybe hire a part-time mandrel monkey....

These'll be the standard set, and as I go, as before, I've accumulated misc rod from supplier shipping mistakes and partly damaged rod. These I offer and get rid of to my ring and tool buyers and students as I go along.

Thanks for the question though Carys, it's one that folks think of if not asked directly, but the best I can do at the moment is say gimme a call from time to time, and see what I've got in the misc rod department, or even contact me and ask if I'm interested in something you have to trade....I'm still part of the TRADING thread here in the Trading Room, and always looking for unique patches of sheet weaves, or inlays, all sizes.

Can you just get eight rods? From 1/64 to 1/8?

I thought there were only 8 between 1/64 an' 1/8. But how much would it cost for the 27 from 1/16 to 1/8?

I have 2 small diameter sets, 1/16 to 1/8, 5 inch long....24 rods I believe,(short #35, 37, 39) includes a 9/64...gimme a call for details. $24.00, includes shipping in the US.

I'm also breaking a few sets into fractions only, and #'s only....$6 and $9 an inch (you tell me how long) respectively.

Anyone looking for a great small mandrel set needs the 24 pc. set Kodiak has.

I got it a while back and I am so glad I did. Every size I need except 1, and that's only because I needed an oddball ID for some of my graduated pieces.

I would highly recommend them to anyone, and for $24, you can't go wrong! They are definitely top notch.

Where are the lists of the sets available? The 24 set sounds ideal, whereas the 75 and 99 rod set seem excessive for my needs at present.

Yes, I was wondering about the sets. I've seen mention of the 74, 86, 99, and 25 rod sets. Is there a listing of all of the sets available, since elsewhere Kodiak mentioned that allowing us to pick and choose what we wanted was a logistical nightmare.

I have the 25 rod set but I don't know the sizes off the top of my head. I would ask Kodiak to let you know the details of each set as I don't think there are any tables with the sizes or what kits he offers.

I found the original listing for the 25 rod set on page 3 or so of the forum. A great price for sure! (Assuming the 2006 prices are still valid).

I'm not even sure what my ideal set of mandrels is at this point. I'm only just now starting to deal with 20 ga. wire, which is quite persnickety. the AR of 20 ga. on a 1/8" mandrel is pretty low, which limits what can be done with it. I fear 22 ga. will be even more difficult to saw.
