It was a really hard decision, but after much inner-conflict and arguing amongst my brain's hemispheres I finally was able to make a decision! Kudos to everyone, they look great! Hopefully I'll be able to participate in the next contest!

First time seeing this and OMG there are a way too many beautiful pieces. I'm really having trouble deciding. I will have to get back to you on this, shortly!

Just have to say this, Lacemailler, I'm loving the rings. So intricate. Is it possible to get the stats?

I'm thrilled and grateful to get such praise for my rings! Means a lot to a newbie!!

This diverse array of jewelry is dazzling--I have to admit I think jfair's handflower is a standout because it is so masculine, and I love its clean crisp lines. It was also fascinating to see the ways in which the two armorers handled the problems of protecting the hand without reducing its flexibility! OTOH the inlay was so original and well thought out I couldn't resist casting my vote for it (as I suspected I would the first time I saw it).

@Ferd De Mann--The bicolor Flat Full Persian ring is made with 22 awg 3.5mm ID enameled copper rings. The Syringa section of the second ring is made with the same size rings (sorry for the roundabout description in my original post--I didn't see Syringa in the Persian section until after I'd reinvented it!). The Celtic Spikes rosette contains 4mm ID, 3.5mm ID, and 2.25mm ID rings in 22 awg enameled or silver-plated copper; the smallest rings are 3mm OD rings (probably 22 awg, but not certain) from Fire Mountain Gems.

Just wanted to say thanks to ED and the couple of people that voted for my handflower. Smile

It really was a tough choice, but, ultimately, as much as I wanted to vote for my own piece, I didn't think that that would be quite kosher. Likewise, I just couldn't vote for people who put out several different things - *shrugs* just not in my nature.

So, that made it only slightly harder for me - instead of 32 options, I had narrowed the field down to 10. And even that was INCREDIBLY difficult.

Ultimately, I, too, voted for GreyElk. I first thought about not, but the more I looked at it, the more I had to agree that it was the most impressive interpretation of the theme. Smile

I don't know that I would say most impressive, but most unique interpretation, certainly Smile

And yeah, despite my kudos to those I mentioned, the uniqueness of GreyElk's entry earned my vote, as well.

Thx lace. I'm into making rings myself and your piece is very nice. You wouldn't mind if I try my hand at replicating it would you?

Thank you all. I always have fun with these contests.

I have been sitting on plans for a pair of mittens for the past few years. I originally thought this theme would provide me with the motivation to finally make the mittens. But after reading the discussion about what the theme should be and how themes should be interpreted I found myself inspired to make this "handflower." The mittens have gone back to my lengthy to-do list.

In which gallery category should I post a picture: inlays, flowers, or handflowers?
