It's a very unusual piece. Definitely a J4-1 variant.

It looks like the connectors aren't rings. Scroll to the right for an approximation of the connector made in paint.

Nice catch. Doesn’t change My judgement though, as they, topologically are identical.

Yeah, those are bar rings, that's pretty typical for eastern mail. Bar rings and split rings are used more or less interchangeably for normal rings.
