Kingsmaille Bracer question/s

Howdy folks so I'm new to making maille and have a couple questions regarding a set of bracers.

The weave is kingsmaillel with 14g galvanized steel ~.380" id =ar 5.32

My first question deals with direction of the grain. A shirt the grain runs vertically. However if I run the grain vertically on the Bracer when it's laced up it will be pulling the weave open, so should I turn the grain to run across the forearm instead of lengthwise.

Secondly is expanding/contracting, I understand how to do this in European 4-1 and since Kingsmaille is the same pattern do I do it the same? I don't see me fitting an extra 2 rings in a butterfly to make the contraction.

Any help would be great.

Maybe drop the second kinged rings where your expansion are.

Thank you I don't know why I was stressing over such a simple solution.
