Report a post?

Is there a way for users to report a post to the mods? If there is, I'm obviously missing it somehow... No, I'm not asking to have a "report a post" button created as it seems pretty seldom that these sorts of posters show up but if there is a more formal process I should be following, let me know as I couldn't find any way other than to post this here.

I ask in regards to post like this, this and this.

You can report it here in MAIL Help. Or you can point out the spam like you did on that post (I deleted it.) For right now, all I can do is delete the spam posts. There isn't much that can be done about people moving, hiding, or deleting pictures they have stored on another site. Thanks Levi. Smile

The first thread was linked not for Flutters missing or moved images, but for the two posts (one by Sanghvi and the other by ekhardsteel) which have nothing to do with the previously untouched eight year old thread. I don't see how or why a user would post generic comments to such an old thread, never post anything else and each happens to have links in their signature that link to industrial steel vendors in India. Maybe I'm wrong but they scream SPAM account to me.

I should have been clearer off the top. Thanks again.

It's been deleted. I usually check on MAIL on a daily basis. DL is very good about replying to any PM's from me or other members. So if you have concerns, please let one of us know by commenting like you did. Thank you!

Dun dun dahhhhh! Spammmm Assassins! Seriously though the forum software would appear to be phpBB2 (not entirely sure this sight is a little tricky to interrogate), entry level "report post" functions appear in phpBB3 so, it would probably require an upgrade which can be "difficult".

I feel it would be helpful in a fairly prominent place to put a link for reporting spam.

Make the general punters the eyes and ears of the forum.

Good Suggestion, but where would you put it that doesn't interfere with the rest of the site? I think the "Help" section is a good place for it. . . possibly it would help if it was stickied? Is that what you are thinking?

In general the spam posts around here are fairly minimal compared to a lot of other forums out there.

That being said, they still come by every once in a while and having a place to report it to seems like a good idea.

Either sticky this thread or create a similar one for the same purpose in the future. You guys have been quick to respond to any posts here so this seems to work. A "Report Spam" button would be nice but I don't think the minimal volume justifies the work required by DL to implement it.
