| 2-in-2?? |

Hey, y'all. I've been going through necklaces tagging my little heart out but when it comes to the "2-in-2" weave I've hit a snag. I see the 2-in-1 in the weaves database but what would I class a "2-in-2" ( or actually 4-in-2 if we're being technical) chain as?
Thanks,
Jax |

Imho a 4in2 (2-2-2...) chain is basically a kinged 2in1 (1-1-1...) chain. That is analog to Double Spiral (Spiral 8in2) being a kinged variant of basic Spiral 4in1 chain.

Human societies are like chain mail.
A single link will be worth nothing.
A chain is of use, but will break at the weakest link.
A weak weave will have the need to replace weak links.
A strong weave will survive even with weak links included.

| So I should just tag it as a 2-in-1? |

Kinging of a weave usually doesn't change the weave's geometry (yes, sometimes pairing changes the behavior a bit, but basically not, or not often). So 4in2 chains ARE 2in1 chains. To get (maybe) different opinions, please ask lorraine and Narrina, but I predict answers congruent with mine. Maybe there is some special rule for the TAGGING of these, but I'm not aware of.

Like ZiLi said, 4-2 chain is just a kinged 2-1 chain. Kinged weaves are generally considered modifications unless the kinging is necessary for a structural reason and not simply a change in appearance.

Jax, if it's an old picture and the submitter doesn't specify a weave, then I would say the best thing to do is leave the weave tag blank. But yeah, if they say 2 in 1 Chain and it's obviously a simple modification of that weave, I would just tag it as 2 in 1 Chain.

What they actually said was "simple 2 in 2"...I toyed with leaving it blank but somehow that bothers me. In the end I put 2-in-1 |

Heh, the annoying perfectionist in me wants to write an article explaining to people the differences between terms like "2 in 1 chain" and "2-2 chain".

Yay for annoying perfectionists! Where would the world be without us?
BTW, I think we need a tag for "geekery"...especially now as we're having a competition and all. |

A 2-2 chain is structurally the same as Inverted Box. (I haven't been keeping up with the tag system) But it'd be a regression of Inverted Round.
