Submission Counts

Okay, as I mentioned in the weaves thread the other day (when I noticed I'd forgotten to tell the new Weave Submit Script to update Submission Counts...)

Submission Counts for most folk around here are WILDLY inaccurate.

Every submission is counted, regardless of whether it is approved or not... Or whether it is deleted later on... As such, a user (such as myself) can have 13 'Submissions' and yet only have 6 visible in my profile. (5 Gallery Items, 1 Article...)

What are everyones thoughts on this? Should this be fixed? Should it be left alone?

I had a PERL script around somewhere, years ago, that I'd periodically run manually or with cron, that would "rebalance" the totals in the DB. It stopped working two moves back, and I hadn't the time to rejigger it then. Now I can't even seem to find it anywhere on the site...

I've updated the weave script to only 'add' to the count on Approval now.
When I write a deletion script, I'll add a 'subtract' to it.

The future Article and Gallery scripts should do the same.

Sounds good. Smile I mean, if we are gonna keep track of these things, seems like it should be accurate.

Definitely should be fixed, why I remember back in the day we weren't even considered a member until we had at least one submission. Then we walked to school in the snow uphill both ways.
