Looks nummy, bit young yet thou. we had a BIG male on the farm in cali, dumb thing fell of the roof alot. never did injur it self thou. hens were annoying, corse i had to clean the place and i was 10 at the time. was a big farm i think we had somthing like 150 female don't know how many males or there breeds. i remember there was alot of them. mostly what i remember was the cows. ~300 milk cows, duzzen or so beef cows at a time, not shure ho many bulls there were but we had alot. i'll see if i can dig up some old pics. The farm was a big one run by my grandfather. my cuzin who ran it into the ground about 2 years ago took over after my gradfather pased (he was 101yrs in 1989).

*talks for L3's cats*
Cat one: "Hay, that looks nummy!!" nosing the other cat in the side
Cat two: "yah sure" said in passing
Cat one: "lets let them get bigger..then snack time!" licking her chops
Cat Two: "if you say so" lazzaly, rolls over in the sun

Razz well thats what my cats would have done. cat vs hen, cat won every time.

Slinky, our biggest cat ran up to them when they were free ranging and stopped dead when one of the blacks took a step towards him. Now he gives them a wide berth. The other cats haven't even come close yet. Laughing

They're adorable Legba, have you named them? I have 5 hens and a rooster as pets.

If you have any questions, this is a very informative message board.

well thats not what i expected the vid to be. least they did not try to dual or you'd be having chiken to nite. seem the cat don't care one way or another about the birds or the dog.

How old is Slinky? He doesn't look big enough yet to pick a fight with a chicken.

Slinky is adorable! Our cats would run also....well at least Rast would...she is afraid of everything including the ceiling fan! Streak is a little tiny thing that thinks she can take on the world.

Actually Slinky is one of the biggest cats in the area which shows just how huge these chickens are! They really are enormous and have the attitude to go with it, luckily they like me. Laughing

They're just like little feathered dinosaurs aren't they? Well, comparatively little, not to a cat!

full grown chickens are mean. it would take a really motivated cat to want to try to take one.. at least when there's a rooster around.. if it's all immature hens there might be understandable concern over losing the occasional bird. roosters are definitely worth having. nothing beats the natural alarm clock!
