Like Daemon_Lotos, I'm going to have to drop out. I'm not going to be able to get my entry done in the little free time I have today and it's not presentable as it is. I'll try to get it done anyway a ...

I'd be happy to help out, I may not have been using this site for very long compared to some members, but I'd love to be able to give something back. I don't mind what needs doing - links checking, sp ...

Take a look at the loop in loop page that Nearoth linked to, as I said before the tripled variation look the same as the photo you linked to. These extra photos just back up that point - it's tripled ...

Never tried any of these myself, but if you look at the photo in the middle of the picture you linked to, it looks the same to me as tripled loop and loop, from the tutorial Nearoth linked to.

Yeah, that article was the first way of making a sphere out of maille that I found. I read their other, more maths-based article, and understood it, then found out that it can only support itself with ...

I hadn't thought of using split rings before. I don't have the special pliers for them, though, and neither of the suppliers I usually buy rings from sells them, but I'll definitely look into it for f ...

Yeah, I thought it was probably something like that. I've decided not to use copper except at low ARs or for earrings, since they don't really take much stress. Everything else, I use aluminium - it's ...

I've used both enamelled copper and anodized aluminium, and I personally prefer AA by far. Admittedly, I've only made 1 bracelet and a pair of earrings with the copper, but it's so much softer than th ...

Hey, don't worry about joining in late, I haven't even ordered the rings yet to make it 'cause the supplier seems to either be out of stock of have a website problem - I haven't got round to contactin ...

Thanks for all the suggestions, the photos I've seen all look great, especially Lorraine's hourglass ones. At the moment I'm leaning towards making a Japanese ball, unless an hourglass one with a sing ...

Ah, ok, thanks. Do you know if a Japanese 10 in 3 ball would work in a slightly smaller AR than 5.4? Like 5.1 to 5.3? 'Cause I think I want to have as little play as possible, really.

Thanks for the link, Lorraine, I'll take a look at that.

And thanks for the size info, too, djgm. Hmm, some play could be useful to make it easier to close the last rings and to attach other parts ...

Japanese 10 in 3... that's a Japanese ball with the 'horizontal' rings tripled and the 'vertical' rings doubled, right? Do you know what sort of size ball that would make, relative to the ring size?

I want to make a ball/sphere shape out of maille, but I have no idea how to do it. Ideally I'd like it to be hollow, but if necessary I can stuff it with some spare rings - it's for part of my contest ...

It's only partially kinged? As far as I can see at a glance, all the rings have been doubled (not that I'm familiar with turkish round, so I could be wrong). Or is there something more to the definiti ...
