I have little experience with anybody but The Ring Lord, but I have been consistently happy with both the quality of the products and how much I've been paying for them.

I guess the main reason to provide a name for the weave is so people who really knew their stuff could find exactly what they want. but I doubt many people know their stuff.

It would depend entirely on what weave you plan to use. Look around through the weave database and choose one. If you're new to chainmaille you might want to choose an easier weave like european 4-1, ...

I think it would probably be best to buy rings for such a hard material, it's not really worth the work if you have to order new tools just to do it.
