I've found that using a hook or loop at either end of the hanging rod, with larger rings attached thereto, will help avoid sag and resultant design warpage.

Brilliant! And that wire is generally powder coated, so the white won't come off when you rewind and cut and weave. Now to see what old notebooks I have lying about that I can scavenge...
