Really? I thought I heard somewhere that the enameling process itself softened the copper (something about heat) which is why you could never find EC in anything other than dead soft.

Mostly pointless and subjective, I'd say.

The biggest factor by far, is ringcount. And ringcount depends on scale. Time per inch means nothing. Rings per inch does.
