Possible Hazards of Mailling

I have taken it upon myself to write this article to tell others about the possible mailling dangers. Please bear in mind that mailling is truly safe, but there is stuff that could happen. Here are all I can think of:

1. Slipandjab!
This is what happens when your pliers slip and hit you or the wire cuts you. This WILL happen sometimes, but it usually isn't too serious. This can be prevented by wearing gloves.

2. Repetitive Stress Injury
This is what happens when you do the same thing over and over, as with maille. This is probably the most crippling thing that can happen to you mailling. It causes terrible pain and stiffness in the elbows, wrists and fingers. If you only maille for a few hours a day, and stretch every hour, you can avoid this. There are some good stretches in these articles: Stretching and More Stretches.

3. Metal Caused Injuries
Some metals used for maille contain elements known to the state of California to cause birth defects and other reproductive harm. This means that there is lead, zinc, etc. To prevent this, don't lick your hands or chew galvanized steel, brass, bronze or aluminum.

Stay safe.
