King's Scale (CGI)

Kingscale is just like Kingsmaille but instead of using all the same size rings as in Kingsmaille, Kingscale uses two different ring sizes. The larger rings have to fit outside of the smaller rings and to look nice, the smaller rings should just fit inside the big rings but the rings have to be large enough or the weave will either bunch up and look bad or be too tight to weave.
In this guide the large rings are 1/2" 18swg and the small rings are about 2/5” 18swg.

(I think 3/8” and 1/2” 16swg rings will work but I don’t have any to try, I’d appreciate it if someone could PM me and let me know if this combination works.)

You can build this weave a few different ways. In the first way, start by making a patch of Euro 1 in 4 out of the small rings.

Then using the large rings go back through and add them everywhere there is a small ring until you are done.

Trying to get the large ring to go through the right rings can be hard, especially if the weave is dense, so here are some other ways that can be easier:

The second way to make Kingscale is a lot like making euro 1 in 4 using all open rings.
Start by making a strip of Kingsmaille of the desired length.

Then add one small ring and one large ring.

Then another small ring and large ring.

Keep going up and down until you are done.

The third way to make this weave is like making euro 1 in 4 using the one open one closed method. (Which in this case is two open two closed because the rings are doubled)
Again start by making a strip of the desired length.

Next take one open small ring and put two closed small and two closed large rings and attach it to the next row.

Then add the large ring.

Keep going adding one small closed and one large closed ring to the open rings until you get to the end of the row.

Then start another row like you just did with two closed small rings two large closed rings and one open small ring and continue as in the previous steps until you are done.

The last way to weave Kingsmaille is like the ribbon method in euro 1 in 4.
Start by making two strips of Kingsmaille of the desired length.
Then lay them next to each other and add a small ring and a large ring to join them.

Then just keep adding rings until the two strips are joined together.
