Byzantine/Birdcage (CGI)
Submitted by Kateryne ( )
One of my favorite weaves for jewelry, Byzantine is related to the european family of weaves. Also called Birdcage, Fool's Dilemma, or Idiot's Box (and a variety of others).

Steel rings represent rings added in steps before the current one, copper represents open rings being added, and gold represents a closed ring being added carried on an open one.

Put 4 closed rings on 2 open rings, and lay them out as shown above.

Now fold back two, spread the middle ones, and put rings in to hold them in place.

Add an open ring with 2 closed ones.

Put another open one through the same path.

Fold the last 2 back and lock once again.

Rinse and repeat (start over with step 3).
